The Ark Learning Center’s Curriculum

Children’s joy and happiness are a big part of their learning. At The Ark Learning Center, we encourage kids to have fun as a part of their education, with child-led activities which are adapted to their abilities and interests.

Inspired by The Creative Curriculum (Social and Emotional, Physical, Cognitive and Language development) and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) learning activities, our teachers provide children with the tools they need to create meaningful, engaging learning experiences, whatever their unique interests or developmental stage.

Our curriculum also emphasizes the importance of relationships between teachers, children, and parents, and focuses on teaching children to think, reason, and problem-solve independently.

As a Granite Steps for Quality awarded center, The Ark uses the Pyramid Model for providing supportive, nurturing, and responsive caregiving. This positive behavioral intervention support (PBIS) framework provides a learning environment that targets social-emotional skills and supports children with challenging behaviors.

This framework aligns with The Ark’s Conscious Discipline program that provides an evidence-based, trauma-informed curriculum that teaches children to name their emotions, regulate them, and then solve problems. Using hands-on, academically oriented lesson plans through a pyramid model framework that focuses on conscious discipline philosophy, our teachers focus on the development of the whole child: mind, body, spirit, and heart.
